How do I clean my laptop keyboard and what to do if it's broken?

Modern laptops are extremely versatile devices. They are used as a tool for study, work, communication, watching movies and even playing computer games. Their combination of mobility and power has made them incredibly popular in all walks of life. But, like other technically complex devices, a laptop requires proper handling.

One of the operating conditions that must be observed is an environment that is comfortable not only for the user but also for the device. The place where the laptop is most often used should not be hot or humid, and ideally, you should use a cooling pad at all. You also need to remember to clean it from dust and dirt. This will at least make the use of the device more pleasant, and as an addition, it will also extend the life of the keyboard.

How do I care for my laptop keyboard and how often do I do it?

For your laptop keyboard to last longer, you need to take care of it. At a minimum, you need to clean it as it gets dirty. Ideally, wipe the buttons every couple of days. In this case, cleaning agents can be used, but only non-aggressive ones. Also, you don't need to overdo it with them, so the ideal option would be to use almost universal wet wipes for cleaning displays as a daily tool.

Slightly less often, about once a week, it is advisable to clean the keyboard from dirt, dust, crumbs, and small debris. To do this, you can use a compressed air canister or, even better, a sticky gel. The so-called "Velcro gel" is an analog of "slime", designed to clean any surfaces, and it does its job perfectly until it changes its color.

How to pick up a new keyboard if the old one is broken?

Unsurprisingly, a laptop keyboard is one of the most prone to wear and tear. The simplest thing that can happen to her is overwriting the buttons. With continued use, the buttons will wear out and the paint will be erased from them. But wear is not their only problem. Despite their reliability, they are still not immune to physical damage, so they can snap off or sink. This is because the silicone used in the membranes dries out over time, and the mechanical parts themselves are quite fragile and break.

Where can I buy it?

In the event of such a physical problem, it is best to replace the keyboard. Finding a keyboard for a specific laptop model is a simple task. Knowing the laptop model, you can find the desired option in any online store.

Are there any analogs?

If for some reason there is no “native” keyboard for your laptop on sale, then you can choose a compatible analog - a keyboard from a laptop of a similar model. As a rule, they are marked as compatible, as they are identical in size and connection method.

Usually, there are not so many such keyboards, since they are suitable only for the closest analogs of a particular laptop, or even only for the same model range. However, they are not hard to find on the Internet. For example, there are a lot of keyboards in the online store of Battery, and each of them has a list of laptop models that they fit.

How do I know my laptop model?

The laptop number is also easy to find - it is indicated on a sticker on the bottom side of the case. However, the main difficulties arise not so much with the search for a replacement keyboard, but with the search for non-standard closed keyboards. However, such models can also be found on the Internet.

How do I replace the keyboard?

Most laptops have a standard keyboard, which can be easily removed by unscrewing a few screws on the underside of the laptop. They are marked with the appropriate KBD mark. The latches are usually located along the perimeter of the border between the buttons and the panel in several almost invisible recesses. After doing a few simple manipulations, you need to disconnect the old keyboard and connect a new one.

With integrated keyboards, things are a little more complicated, but they also do not cause any particular difficulties. The main difference is that these keyboards can only be removed from the inside. And for this, you will need to disassemble the entire laptop completely and pull out the motherboard and all the filling.

What if the keys are worn out?

If over time, the buttons on your laptop keyboard have become overwritten, then this is easy to fix - much easier than replacing individual buttons or the entire keyboard. It is enough to buy special stickers that are available in almost any online store. At the same time, it is important to choose the
